Dating Slang and Their Definitions

Dating is complicated so a few dating terms describes concisely the scenario. As Carrie Bradshaw said in “Sex in the City” , there are men who are modelizers - they only date models. Dating can be a “long and dirty road” = full of break-ups or it can be “deep & meaningful”= long term relationship.

One of the worst daters are those people who haven’t let go of their ex. They go on and on about how wonderful their ex is. This is called “exing.” Seriously, before you start dating, get rid of the baggage.

There is also the “slow fade” = ho-hum date and there is the “walk of shame” = walking home in your party garb. “Hooking up”  = casual dating. There is no monogamous sex.

“Casual dating” has no sex involved; however, you’re waiting to see what will blossom. On the other hand, there is “friends with benefits” = sexual activity with no commitments.
If you don’t want your relationship known, then the person that you’re with is your “umfriend.” A cuddle buddy, friend with benefits, and companion can all be unfriends.

Online dating has brought about  textation = dates when you text back and forth. You can find out a lot from texts. Is the person  “salty” = cranky, as opposed to  “roast” = hot. Your avatar = graphical personalization. This is how you see yourself in the dating world.

The world is a better place because of NRE = new relationship energy. The enchantment of a budding relationship adds chemistry for limerence = passion.
