Are You Being Competitive or Being a Bully?

When does the competition turn into bullying. The people who threaten the bully the most in a work place are the creative, hard working employees. The bully doesn’t want to be upstaged or overtaken  so the bully’s target is the worker who produces the most, strives to be better, and has the best attitude. Consequently, after a bully strikes, work productivity goes down and resentment filters through the air.

Bullies are hard to spot because they are underhanded enough not to be noticed. They are civil and cooperative on the surface, but underneath their phoniness they are mean. The damage that bullies do to the workplace has gotten the attention of the organizations. Companies realize that getting rid of bullies, then creativity, production, and morale will stay high.

The best employees are those who are highly-skilled, intelligent, creative, ethical, able to work well with others, and independent. The best employee refuse to be subservient or controlled by others.

These are the people a bully feels the most threat. Ironically, bullies are cowards. The have a deep insecurity and fears of inadequacy about themselves. Bullying behavior can exist at any level in the company - superiors, subordinates, co-workers and colleagues.
