Collecting Postcards

If you are looking for an inexpensive hobby then consider postcard collecting, also called deltiology. The first postcard was printed in 1893. Imagine having started a collection then. You would be able to see history progress in front of your eyes.

Postcards of buildings that don’t exist anymore, such as The World Trade Center have added significance. A good collection is organized with a theme - animals, scenery, buildings, and so on. The adage, “less is more’ applies here. Don’t cram the page with postcards; rather leave spaces in between them for a more attractive look.

In order to keep your postcards from getting damaged, keep them in an acid free, high quality polyethylene or Mylar sleeves. Light, especially sunlight, is not good for your postcards so limit the time that they are in the light.
